In the 1940s the United States purposely infected thousands of Guatemala, natives with syphilis and gonorrhea, to test these human guinea pigs with antibiotics . Of course, these suffering souls were sexually active for the rest of their lives and unwittingly infected everybody they came in contact with, including spouses. At Tuskegee, hundreds of American blacks were  allowed to carry syphilis from the 1930s to the 1970s, to act as human petri dishes.
